Trove is an online search engine developed by the National Library of Australia. At the click of a button, you can access a treasure chest of Australian material such as images, historic newspapers, maps and diaries.
You can limit your searches to Australian content only or only available online by clicking in the tick boxes located under the search box. There is also an advanced search box here to help you to refine your searches.

The Help Centre provides more tips for searching for content.

Some tips for using search engines:

o Try combining key words with AND (make sure you use capital letters!)

For example: World War 1 AND Australia. That way you will only find websites that are related to Australia and WW1 instead of having those pages mixed in with other websites about the war.

o Use speech marks (" ") around a phrase to make sure you find the whole phrase. For example: "conscription referendum 1917".
